Elena Reygadas was named the best female cook of 2023. If you’re unaware of who she is, let me introduce you. Elena Reygadas is an award-winning chef from Mexico City. In addition to being the world’s best chef she also owns and operates three restaurants throughout Mexico Rosette, Lardo, and Café Nin. When asked about her inspiration to become a chef in an interview with Fine Dining Lovers in 2021 she said, “I loved preparing food for my friends. For me, it was a way of showing my affection. When I was deciding what to study, at age 18, there were not many options in Mexico to study cooking, and my family couldn’t afford to support me financially to study abroad.”

Reygadas’ also wrote a cookbook that was published in 2018 entitled Rosetta which has all of her recipes for many of her dishes such as Pickled Kumiai oysters with horseradish borage flower, and samphire, Vanilla-Sugar Conchas, or Rosemary Buns. All of her recipes look delicious and if I ever get the opportunity to travel to Mexico, I will be making reservations at one of her restaurants.
